President

In addition to the role of President of the Malta Union of Bank Employees – MUBE, Mr. Portelli presently occupies the role of President of the Confederation of Malta Trade Unions – CMTU and is an active member of the Employment Relations Board and the Malta Council of Economic and Social Development and currently sitting on the Governing Boards of the Dublin Foundation and Cedefop.  For nearly two years he occupied the post of Chairperson of the NECC Consumers sub-committee.

General Secretary

Elected as General Secretary and graduated as Doctor of Laws in 2010. Previously employed as a Legal Procurator with HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. for the last 18 years, graduated Masters in European Law in 2001 and Notary Public in 2008.

Administrative Secretary

Joanna  has been active within MUBE since 2002, initially as a council member and, since 2007, as the Administrative Secretary of MUBE. Joanna has had a long career within the financial services industry having worked both locally and abroad with Mid Med Bank, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, Marubeni Australia and Volksbank Malta.

Vanessa was admitted to the University of Malta (Faculty of Laws) in 1991 to read Law.  She obtained the Diploma of Notary Public in 1995 and after successfully submitting a thesis entitled ‘Review of the powers and functions of the Regulatory Authorities in the Financial Services Sector’ she graduated Doctor of Laws (LL.D) in 1997.

Felix joined MUBE in 1975. He first became a member of the sectional HSBC Group Committee in 1999. He is also a member of the MUBE Council and one of MUBE’s representatives at the Confederation of Malta Trade Unions (CMTU).

Lino joined the MUBE in 1974. In 1977 he became involved in the trade union activities first as a Mid-Med Branch Representative and subsequently as a Group Committee member. His involvement in the trade unionism intensified along the years and with the arrival of HSBC in 1999 he occupied the post of Vice President of the Union.

Stephen Mizzi, 37, works at Facilities Management at Bank of Valletta plc. Been working with BOV for the past 18 years.  Obtained Certificate in Banking in 1997 and an Advanced Diploma in Business Management in 2011.

George joined Bank of Valletta in 1989.  In the same year he also became a member of MUBE. He has been an active member of the MUBE BOV Group Committee since 1998 and the secretary of the Group Committee since 2002. He is also a member of the MUBE Council.

Born in 1978, Glenn joined Lombard Bank in 1997. In the year 2000 he became the union representative at Lombard Bank. Whilst he is still consulted on Lombard Bank affairs, he also forms part of MUBE’s international relations pool. Glenn is also an avid football player who has played at top levels in the local national league.

Born in 1974, Josef's experience in the trade union movement commenced in 1993 when he joined the Malta Union of Bank Employees. In 2002 he was elected Secretary of the HSBC Group Committee and he has occupied this position ever since.

Charmaine is employed at APS Bank and since then she joined MUBE as a member in 1991. Later on she was nominated as the APS Group Committee Secretary and eventually also became a member of the MUBE Council.

International Relations

Solange J. Mifsud is engaged in international representative work on behalf of MUBE.  She is currently a Savings and Investment Officer at BoV p.l.c.  Previously, she carried out duties at BoV Wealth Management Department.

Advisor – Wealth Management

Mark joined Mid Med Bank plc in 1995 and carried out accounts and teller duties for a short period of time before assuming a sales role with Mid Med Life Assurance and subsequently a financial planning role with HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. He is currently occupying the post of Private Clients Manager with HSBC servicing the `high net worth` clients and corporate entities of the bank.
