On Friday 24th February 2012 a meeting will be held between the MEUSAC Core Group, the Sectoral Committees of MEUSAC and the Maltese Members of the European Parliament.

A discussion on the role of the European Parliament will be followed by a presentation from the MEPs relating to the work of the European Parliament and the political groups of which they are members. A number of working groups will also be held on the following themes:

• Migration and Justice
• Single Market
• Work and Social Affairs
• Economic and Monetary Affairs
• Tourism

The principal roles of the Malta-EU Steering and Action  Committee (MEUSAC) are consultation, information and technical support on EU Programmes and Funding.

MUBE officials will be representing the Confederation of Malta Trade Unions – CMTU as part of the Workers Group of the European Trade Union Confederation - ETUC at the upcoming meeting of the Social Dialogue Committee which will be held in Brussels on the 9th February 2012.

The ETUC conducts industrial relations with the employers at EU level through European social dialogue. The European social partners – workers’ and employers’ representatives – have worked together for many years on EU committees and consultative bodies.

“Developing solidarity between generations of workers: good practices to increase employment rates of youth and of workers over 55. The case of the banking sector”

The Malta Union of Bank Employees – MUBE is a partner in the FIBA-CISL project on ''Developing solidarity between generations of workers: good practices to increase employment rates of youth and of workers over 55''.  This project is funded by the European Union. The kick off meeting will take place in Seville in February 2012.  More information about this project will be published as it becomes available

The Malta Institute of Management, as part of its 2012 conferences and events programme will organize on the 8th March the MIM National Congress for Women in Management where leading female entrepreneurs, managers and leaders will come together to discuss the legislative framework in the light of the current challenges and opportunities for women in management.  This half day conference will be held at the Westin Dragonara Resort, St Julians commencing at 8:30am.

The Malta Union of Bank Employees – MUBE will be holding its first Council meeting of 2012 on Thursday 19th January 2012 at Union Headquarters.

MUBE officials will be attending The National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE) full day Conference for the Research Launch as part of the European Social Fund co-funded project ‘ESF 3.47 Unlocking The Female Potential’.

The Launch will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta on Monday 16th January, 2012. An Equality Mark Award ceremony, presided by the Hon Minister for Education Employment & Family, Dolores Cristina will be held at 15:30 pm.

The MIM Duties and Responsibilities of Company Secretaries Seminar 2012

Following the success of the MIM Duties and Responsibilities of Company Secretaries Seminar held in October, the Malta Institute of Management in collaboration with the Malta Financial Services Authority will organize a seminar on the 19th January 2012 that will address the role of company secretaries in public companies and tax liability of company secretaries. The MIM Duties and Responsibilities of Company Secretaries Seminar 2012 will be held at Malta Financial Services Authority, Mriehel at 16.00 pm.
